Visit the most famous Hollywood Star

For a city escape, fresh air and nature atmosphere, Griffith Park is the best alternative. With over 4,210 acres of both natural chaparral-covered terrain and landscaped parkland and picnic areas, Griffith Park is the largest municipal park with urban wilderness area in the United States.

The park opens at 5 am and offers a variety of activities including several options of trails for hiking, an observatory (with a museum and planetarium), and the famous Greek Theatre. It is also home for the most famous star of Hollywood: the H-o-l-l-y-w-o-o-d sign. The excitement goes until 10h30pm, time that the park closes its gates.

Being at the Griffith Park hills feels like being at the top of the world. After an exhaustive trail, getting to the top of the mountain gives you a positive vibration because of the incredible view of the city and picture of the huge sign (The Hollywood sign measures 450 feet long and each letter is 45 feet tall). You would probably have the feeling that… YES, you made it!

And don’t pretend you are tired. When I first got to Los Angeles I decided to visit the park. I was so excited about the trails that I put my energy up and went to the top of the highest hill through the thinnest off road trail like a wild animal. When I got to the peak  I was sweating, almost no breath, and bagging for water like a person who had been crossing the desert for 2 days. After all the drama, I looked to my side and there was this 80 years old man running to the top holding his wooden stick on his right hand. He came in my direction smiling, touched the chair where I was sitting, turned around, and went back to the trail, all the way back. Such an inspiration!

Forget about my touching story if you are not an adventure person. You do not need to go to Griffith park just to exercise. Instead, you can visit the observatory, walk around the hills, have fun in the museum, enjoy the view, and say hello to the most popular guy of the city: the Hollywood sign.
