The Magic Punta del Este

Punta Del Este, in Uruguay, is becoming more and more famous all over the world, and each year have been attracting different people that want to spend their vacations in the city. What is so magic about Punta is the unique atmosphere spread in the miles of wonderful coasts with scenic beaches, beautiful houses and an unbelievable sunset.

The main characteristics of Punta del Este are: quality, beauty and positive vibration described in their good restaurants, beach bars, hotels, shops and the nightlife.

A typical day in the city includes waking up around 11am /12pm, late afternoons sunbathing at the beach from 3 pm to 8h30 pm (the sunsets are about 9:30 on summer), late lunch (around 5/6pm at the beach or after beach) midnight dinners and late-night parties. During summertime all parties happen, restaurants are open and you can see a lot of people on the street. After February the city gets calm, and, as a typical beach city, some restaurants and bars close.

The best beaches points in Punta are:

1. Playa Brava, Jose Ignacio (My favorite):

A tip: Stop in the Parador La Huella in the afternoon for an amazing lunch experience (the Volcán de Dulce de Leche is a must have). The restaurant is right by the beach. After you are ready to watch the sunset from the beach with the sound of the Dj.

2. Bikini:

A tip: After beach time stop in the Cactus restaurant for a delicious lunch or at Volta for a tasty and unforgettable ice cream. Or stay at the beach with the sound of the Dj enjoying some drinks and friends.

3. Playa Montoya

A tip: stop in the beach restaurant to try the famous Chipirones a La Plancha.

Most of the beaches have food tents and the unique flavours that they offer and you should try it are the Choclo, Clericot, Caipirinhas and Panchos.

After the beach a walk at Barra to visit nice stores, galleries and little restaurants, a stop at Porto for a delicious clericot watching the view of the sea or a bike hide around the coast watching the sunset are good choices.
