Lights that move with the power of the Wheel

Rides, playgrounds, food, artists, pretending artists, tourists, local people, kiosks, gifts, crowd, romance and fun! That are some of the characteristics that describes the main symbol of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Pier. From the outside, a strong and consistent sculpture confronting the sea that, during the day is colorful and, during the night lightened. From the inside, a typical tourist pier, with people walking around, taking pictures, having fun.

When at the pier, looking to the beach you can see the length of the coastline facing South and North. When admiring the city, you can look at high buildings, healthy people, cars, traffic and palm trees.

Inside the pier os located the Pacific Park that offers a variety of attractions  the including the Pirate Ship, Air Lift, Roller Coaster and the famous Ferris Wheel.

The Pacific Wheel for me is the main (and only) attraction. Going up in that 85 feet ride with view to an open sea and the beautiful Venice and Santa Monica is priceless. From the top at night, with no noise, you feel the beauty of Los Angeles, the fresh air and feel scary also (that Wheel shakes like crazy). It is interesting that the whole idea of Ferris Wheel is more about romance that tourism. When at the line of the ride you can see couples in their own seats (or should I say caves?!) at the Wheel, hugging, smiling, making that moment special. Yes, just a Magic  Ferris Wheel! Plim Plim.

The Pier also offers different concerts and attractions during the year, specially on summer time. We already watched Jack Johnson there, live, for free. And now the Cirque duSoleilOvo is on action on the pier’s parking lot. Always remember to check what is going on online. And also many other fixed attractions.

When visiting L.A, you might wanna check this iconic place in Los Angeles. But don’t expect to much, or to stay that longer. Have fun! For no, we will just seat and wait for the new Ferris Wheel at Venice Beach….!
