The Super San Francisco

San Francisco brings the culture and nature side of California in a small, mountain style city, with a big amount of attractions. The city has different kinds of neighborhoods and each one has a distinct look and vibe. San Francisco is considered one of the greatest cities in the world for many things, including dining, a happening theater scene and a distinct culture.

I’ve been in San Francisco twice and when I go there I can feel all the positive atmosphere of the city reflected in an European style, where you can go around riding a car, taking a cable car, electric bus or biking. Pretty unique.

10 Things Not to Miss:

1. Pier 39 – Fisherman’s Wharf: I personally don’t like much the Fisherman’s Wharf, but, Pier 39 is a nice place to stop for a lunch and eat a great seafood dish. Be prepared: thousands of tourists go to the Fisherman’s Wharf.

2. Crissy Field – Park area located next to Marina Blvd and is one of the best places to make a beautiful photo shoot of the incredible Golden Gate.

3. Sausalito – Its a cute small city after crossing the Golden Gate. The place is all about art and sea and the streets are full of little stores, restaurants and coffee shops. Its a  must go for lunch. Tip 1: You can rent a bike and cross the Golden Gate biking until Sausalito and take a boat in the way back. I always wanted to do that, but never did it :(. Tip 2: Another stop for a nice photo of the Golden Gate is right after you cross the bridge, in the right side. You will probably see a lot of people in the parking lot.

4. Lincoln Park:Another nice stop for a beautiful photo shoot of the Golden Gate but now, with a lot of green around. The park is beautiful with thousands of threes surrounding the sea.

5. Golden Gate Park: Beautiful and huge park in the middle of the city. If you want you can stop there for a while to relax and enjoy the nature or you can just drive through the park to see the beauty of the place.

6. Twin Peaks: A mountain view where you can see the whole city. Really beautiful and help you understand the geography of San Francisco.

7. Castro: The America’s first and best-known gay neighborhoods. It’s interesting to go and learn about the culture of  the place that became so famous for gays and lesbians since the 70’s. Castro and Market Streets are the main streets full of bars and stores.

8. Museums – San Francisco has some of the top science and art museums and most of them are located in the same region: SOMA. I have to admit that I never been in none of the museums, but I heard they are good stuff, specially the  San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Museum of Craft & Folk Art.

9. Union Square: Union Square is the best place in San Francisco to go shopping. All the region is full of stores and shopping malls (the best one is the Westfield San Francisco Center). Around the famous Union Square is where is located most of the well-known brand stores. My top attraction at Union Square is to stop in the Emporio Rulli for a beer or wine with a delicious cake.

10. Chestnut street: Is composed of an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, coffee houses and services. The street is located in the Marina neighborhood and is usually frequented by SF locals. Nice place to walk around.

I wasn’t lucky enough to eat in a MUST GO restaurant  in San Francisco, but I still have some great suggestions of places I’ve been:

Ozumo: Japanese restaurant with great food and super nice decor.

Gamine: Small and Charming French Bistro with great food and atmosphere. The place is a Typical French Bistro: low light, small tables, few options of plates, but all good.

Delarosa: Roman Style pizza and pasta. The pizza is sooo goood and the place is nice and modern.

– Little Italy: Is a nice place to have dinner, but I didn’t find yet a good restaurant. I would love suggestions.

Rickhouse: How they describe the bar: “The objective at Rickhouse is to provide you, our guest, with a superior beverage experience. Whether you are interested in artisanal cocktails, fine spirits, local beers or boutique California wines, we strive to provide a precious and peculiar selection for your exploration and enjoyment”. Nice place, ãhh? I recommend.

Have a great trip in the lovely San Francisco and don’t forget to take a ride with the Sir. Cable Car.
